Frequently asked questions

What bicep and tricep machines do you offer?

This collection includes dedicated bicep curl machines (seated and standing), tricep extension machines (overhead and pressdown style), and combo bicep / tricep machines that train both in one footprint — like the Body-Solid S2BTP. Most run on 160–235 lb weight stacks.

Why use a machine instead of dumbbells for arms?

Machines give you two things dumbbells can't: constant tension through the full range of motion (dumbbells lose tension at the top and bottom), and easier training to failure — no risk of dropping a weight on the last rep. Pair them with dumbbell work for best overall arm development.

Bicep machine vs. preacher curl bench — which is better?

Different tools for different movements. A bicep curl machine uses a weight stack and cammed resistance curve, giving consistent tension through the full movement. A preacher curl bench uses free weights (barbell, EZ bar, or dumbbells) with an angled arm pad to force strict form. Preacher benches are cheaper and more versatile; machines are faster to set up and better for drop sets.

What's a tricep extension machine vs. a tricep pressdown?

A tricep extension machine usually has you seated with pads on your upper arms and a lever you press down or forward — some models (like French press style) take the arms overhead. A tricep pressdown is a cable movement using a rope or straight bar on a lat-pulldown or cable machine. Both are excellent — most serious gyms have at least one dedicated tricep station plus cable access.

Is a combo bicep/tricep machine worth it over two separate machines?

For most home gyms and smaller commercial facilities, yes. Combo machines like the Body-Solid S2BTP cut your footprint in half while still offering full weight stacks and commercial-grade construction. The trade-off: only one person can use it at a time. For high-traffic facilities, separate dedicated stations are better.

What weight stack size do I need?

For arm isolation work, most users don't need more than 160–200 lb — biceps and triceps are smaller muscle groups and respond better to higher reps than maximum loads. That said, advanced lifters doing heavy cheat curls or weighted dips will appreciate the upgrade to a 235 lb stack if it's available.
