Frequently asked questions
What's in the stretching and mobility category?
Tools that improve flexibility, range of motion, and tissue quality: stretching machines (assisted-stretch devices), foam rollers, and resistance bands (used heavily for mobility work and assisted stretching). Stretching and mobility are the most neglected yet highest-ROI area for most recreational athletes.
What's the minimum mobility kit I should own?
Three items cover 90% of what recreational lifters and athletes need: a foam roller ($25–60), a lacrosse ball or massage ball ($10–20) for targeted trigger points, and a set of resistance bands ($30–80) for assisted stretching and banded mobility drills. Total under $120 for a complete entry-level mobility setup.
How much time should I spend on stretching and mobility?
For most trainees: 5–10 minutes of dynamic work before training, 5–15 minutes of static stretching or mobility after, and an optional 20–30 minute dedicated mobility session 1–2 times per week. More is fine but not required. Consistency beats duration — daily 10 minutes beats weekly 60 minutes.
