Frequently asked questions

What is a landmine attachment and why should I get one?

A landmine is a pivoting socket that grips one end of a barbell, letting the other end swing through a wide arc. It unlocks 20+ exercises you can't do with a straight bar: landmine press, landmine row, landmine squat, landmine rotation, meadows row, T-bar row, and more. For under $100, it's one of the highest-value accessories you can buy.

Rack-mounted vs. floor-mounted landmine — which is better?

Rack-mounted landmines bolt to your power rack and stay out of the way when not in use — cleanest solution for permanent setups. Floor-mounted (sleeve-style) landmines sit on the floor with the bar pinned inside — portable, no installation, works anywhere. Most home gyms do fine with a floor-mounted unit; commercial facilities often use both.

Will a landmine work with any barbell?

Yes — landmines fit any 2-inch Olympic barbell sleeve. The sleeve slides into the landmine socket and pivots freely. It doesn't matter if you have a cheap starter bar or a premium competition bar — all Olympic bars fit. For 1-inch standard bars (uncommon now), you'll need a specialty landmine.

Is a landmine safe for beginners?

Very — in fact, landmine variations are often the safest way to learn pressing and rowing. The fixed pivot point limits range of motion and stabilizes the weight, which makes it much harder to lose control or get hurt compared to a free barbell. Landmine presses are often prescribed for shoulder rehab.

Do I need special attachments for landmine work?

The basic landmine alone covers most movements. For extras: a T-bar row handle (neutral-grip V-handle that slides over the bar) unlocks heavy row work, and landmine press handles (single or dual handles) make overhead press more comfortable. Both are inexpensive and significantly expand what you can do.
