The 45# carbon steel shaft carries a 150,000 PSI tensile strength rating and a 1,000 lb (453.6 kg) capacity under a black manganese phosphate finish that resists corrosion.

At 42 lb (19.1 kg) and 86.5 in (219.7 cm) long with a 28 mm grip diameter, it takes Olympic plates with a 2 in center hole on 16.25 in (41.3 cm) chrome loadable sleeves.
